HonesoftⓇ SP-90 is a dual-ester quaternary ammonium salt cationic surfactant formulated with carefully blended long-chain (C16–C18 palmitic fatty acids), containing approximately 90% active ingredient in methyl sulfate salt form. It is specifically designed as a high-performance base component for clothing softeners, concentrated softening solutions, fragrance-preserving pearl liquids, and textile post-treatment softeners.
Ⅱ.Core Features
The length and saturation of the long carbon chains have been optimally balanced; cationic head groups selectively adsorb onto the surfaces of cotton, linen, silk, wool, and synthetic fibers, with the long chains arranged in an orderly outward direction, significantly reducing fiber friction. After treatment, garments feel soft, fluffy, and airy – putting an end to the "oil film sensation" or the issue of garments becoming increasingly stiff with repeated washing associated with traditional quaternary ammonium compounds.
SP-90 balances the proportions of its double-ester structure to ensure both softness and excellent rewetting performance in the fabric. After washing, towels, bath towels, and baby bodysuits remain non-sticky and do not pill; additionally, they do not absorb excess moisture on the legs during winter wear. The fabric also features rapid static discharge, making the garments smooth and easy to iron after drying.
While ester-based quaternary ammonium salts are generally sensitive to alkaline conditions and high temperatures, SP-90 – through precise control of its carbon chain length and esterification degree – significantly slows down the hydrolysis rate within the typical application range (pH 2.5–4.0). This ensures that long-term storage does not lead to decreased viscosity, separation, or changes in acid value. Ⅳ.Formulation Compatibility
The cationic system is well compatible with flavor microcapsules, nonionic surfactants, silicone oils, and polyquaternium compounds.
However, it should not be mixed directly with anionic surfactants (nonionic bridging is required).
It is recommended to adjust the pH using citric acid to range between 2.5–4.0 and maintain the ingredient temperature at ≤60°C; prolonged heating above 65°C should be avoided.
For low-concentration formulations, a cold-dispersion process may be employed to reduce costs.
