Product Overview
Honesoft® QS-948 is a Low-Viscosity Non-Ionic Softener supplied as white to pale yellow pearl (semi-bead) form at 25°C. Designed for the softening finishing of cellulose fibers and their blended fabrics, it delivers a soft, fluffy hand feel while keeping the fabric hydrophilic. Because it is non-ionic, it shows excellent compatibility with other commonly used textile auxiliaries. Its 10% diluted solution has low viscosity and good fluidity. It causes no yellowing or discoloration (phenol yellowing as low as level 4–5), making it suitable for fabrics with strict requirements on shade and whiteness. It is suitable for both exhaustion and padding processes, and is free of AEEA fatty acid condensate, meeting international environmental standards for the textile industry.
Product Features
- Suitable for softening finishing of cellulose fibers and their blended fabrics, delivering a soft and fluffy hand feel.
- Non-ionic character gives good compatibility with other commonly used textile auxiliaries.
- The 10% diluted solution has low viscosity and good fluidity.
- No yellowing or color change - suitable for fabrics with strict requirements on shade and whiteness.
- Extremely low phenol yellowing, reaching level 4–5.
- Excellent hydrophilicity - softness without sacrificing the fabric's water absorption.
- In the softening of cheese yarn, and on textiles with insufficient washing, excessive dye residue or excessive floating color, it effectively reduces defects such as layer difference and color spots.
- Free of AEEA fatty acid condensate, complying with international environmental standards and requirements in the textile industry.
- Suitable for both exhaustion and padding finishing processes.
Key Advantages
1. Low-viscosity dilution.
2. Non-ionic = formulation freedom: compatible with most commonly used auxiliaries.
3. Shade-safe: no yellowing, no color change, phenol yellowing down to level 4–5 - safe for whites, pastels and critical shades.
4. Softness without losing hydrophilicity: soft, fluffy hand while the fabric still absorbs water - a key requirement for towels, sportswear and next-to-skin knits.
5. Defect reducer on difficult substrate: on cheese yarn and poorly washed / high floating-color goods it cuts layer difference and color spots.
6. Eco-compliant: AEEA fatty acid condensate free, aligned with international textile environmental requirements for export orders.
7. Process-flexible: one product for both exhaustion and padding, simplifying inventory and operator training.
Application Scenarios
- Softening finishing of cellulose fibers - cotton, linen, viscose/rayon and their blends.
- Softening of cheese yarn (cone yarn) packages.
- White, bleached, pastel and other shade- and whiteness-critical goods.
- Towels, bathrobes, sport and next-to-skin knits where softness AND hydrophilicity are both required.
- Garments and fabrics destined for export markets with AEEA and environmental restrictions.
- Troubled lots with insufficient washing, excessive dye residue or floating color, where layer difference and color spots must be minimized.
Process Flow
【Dilution】
Honesoft® QS-948 cannot be used directly; it must be pre-dissolved into a 10% solution before dosing. A higher content will cause the viscosity of the diluted solution to rise sharply and impair its re-dilution behaviour.
【Recommended dilution procedure】
1. Add half of the required amount of water into the chemical mixing tank.
2. With stirring, slowly add the QS-948 softener beads to avoid caking / agglomeration.
3. Slowly raise the temperature to 70–80°C and stir under heat preservation until the beads are fully dissolved and the diluted solution is free of particles.
4. Add the remaining room-temperature water and continue stirring until the temperature of the diluted solution drops below 45°C.
5. Filter and discharge; the solution is then ready for use.
【Exhaustion process】
Dosage: 2.0–10.0% o.w.f. (based on 5% diluted solution)
【Padding process】
Dosage: 20.0–100.0 g/L (based on 5% diluted solution)
Dosage can be increased or decreased according to any specially treated substrates or special requirements. Please adjust by lab trial before bulk production.
FAQ
Q1: Which fibers and fabrics is Honesoft® QS-948 suitable for?
A: Cellulose fibers and their blended fabrics - cotton, linen, viscose/rayon and blends.
Q2: Why is low viscosity emphasized?
A: Low viscosity makes it easy to operate.
Q3: Does softness come at the cost of hydrophilicity?
A: No. QS-948 provides a soft, fluffy hand while keeping excellent hydrophilicity - suitable for towels and next-to-skin knits.
Q4: Does it help with layer difference and color spots?
A: Yes. When used for cheese-yarn softening and on textiles with insufficient washing, excessive dye residue or floating color, it effectively reduces layer difference and color spots.
Q5: Is it environmentally compliant?
A: It is free of AEEA fatty acid condensate and complies with international environmental standards and requirements in the textile industry. Refer to the latest MSDS/SDS and compliance documents for the specific market.
